Build a Loft BedLoft beds are nice because they can help create a lot more space in smaller bedrooms or dorm-rooms. The space underneath the loft bed can be used for anything such as a desk or entertainment stand. To build a loft bed you need to get some plans and all your materials. You can find plans or draw your own since it is a fairly simple piece of furniture to make. The bed part itself when you go to build a loft bed is really just a wooden box a little bit bigger than your mattress. You can make this out of some 2 x 6 board pieces. You want to be sure to leave around an inch or two around the mattress in this box so you can change your sheets easily. The next thing to you to do when you build a loft bed is to cut the posts all the same length in order to get your loft bed off the floor and in the air. The posts can be attached in many different ways and the quickest way to attach them is by standing the posts up in the positions they will be on the finished bed, and tilting the bed up and on the top of the posts. Having someone help you do this step is probably wise so you do not hurt yourself. A good safety measure is to have crossbeams running along the bottom connecting the posts, this will help make sure the bed does not tip over and cause injury. Once you have the bed up on the posts, and the bed is secure and steady it is time to get the mattress into the box you made for the bed. This might also require a hand but when you get that done all you have to do now is make your bed and then enjoy all the new space you created when you decided to build a loft bed. |
